This song was a story that just came to me like a flood of words 20 years ago. It was like watching a movie. I could see this whole story unfold and I wasn't sure why at the time such a movie had filled my mind but I really enjoy the interesting imagery I was creating and captured it in words and melody.
Over the past "20 years" I have revisited and evolved this song and created an understanding of what it is this story truly tells me. Joining Final Gravity 9 years ago is when I was able to create music that gave the lyrics justice and this song really hit its stride musically. It took a long time, many years to complete but I knew what I wanted, I knew I had to do it right and I did!
This song is a universal story of challenges and knowing what you want but not really knowing how to get there. Can you keep your integrity and standard on your journey or will you compromise in order to fast track your results? Will it still be that magical dream you envisioned if you get there the wrong way? Ironically the creation of the song really encompasses the meaning of the song. There were no short cuts or compromises creating this song and now we can release it as something that we can be proud of. It was frustration to sit on this song for so many year but it was worth it in order to get the best result. When it was finally ready to release the timing was right for it to be a perfect piece in completing our album story "Surviving Humanity".
Sincerely Satan is not about speaking to the devil but speaking to yourself, speaking to your darker, weaker, desperate side. Can you overcome your own internal demons and fears that hold you back? When we let our fears drive our decision making and choices maybe we will fall short, maybe it won't be really what we wanted.
